Play Therapy of the Pines, PLLC is a private ​practice located in the Sandhills of North ​Carolina. We have extensive training and ​experience working with children, ​adolescents, and families, and also specialize ​in working with the military population.

Play Therapy Training Program

At Play Therapy of the Pines, PLLC, we want you to join the internationally recognized network of Registered Play Therapists™ (RPT)!

So we’re going to make it easy for you! Our program follows the 3 phases as outlined by the Association for Play Therapy™ (APT) and includes:


  • 1 hour of supervision with Dr. Megan per month
  • 1.5 hours of group supervision with Dr. Megan 3x during each phase
  • Consultation with trainers as needed throughout the program
  • Tracking sheet to document your progress in the program and through the phases
  • Specifically curated play therapy courses that align with the phases and focus on foundational play therapy skills and techniques, play therapy theories, and practical application

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Our Play Therapy Training Cancellation and Refund Policy will be as follows to assure consistency and is applicable to all trainings offered by Play Therapy of the Pines.

  1. Registrations canceled on or before two weeks prior to the event are refundable but subject to a $25 administrative fee.
  2. Registrations canceling after the deadline of two weeks prior will not receive a refund. The refund and cancellation policy will not be waived. Registration fees may be transferred to another individual for the same event.
  3. In the event Play Therapy of the Pines must cancel the training due to unforeseen circumstances, Play Therapy of the Pines will refund the cost of registration. However, Play Therapy of the Pines does not assume responsibility for any additional costs, charges, or expenses; to include, charges made for travel and lodging.
  4. With regard to the Play Therapy Training Program there are no refunds once registration is complete and paid for. By registering you recognize and agree that you shall not be entitled to a refund.



Our Therapists

Megan Numbers, PhD, LCMHC, RPT-S™

Dr. Megan is the founder of Play Therapy of the Pines, PLLC has over 12 years of experience in the mental health field. She specializes in working with military children and families.

Dr. Megan uses a variety of expressive interventions to include: sandplay therapy, art therapy, music therapy, Therplay, TF-CBT, clinical pediatric hypnotherapy and so much more!

Carla Salazar, LCSW

Carla has 5 years of experience in the mental health field and specializes in helping kiddos work through grief and loss and navigate terminal illnesses. Carla is also a certified school counselor in California!

Kayla Staples, LCSW, RPT™

Kayla has 4 years of experience in the mental health field and specializes in working with kiddos in the foster care system. She uses a variety of different expressive interventions to include: sandtray therapy, narrative therapy, animal-assisted therapy, TF-CBT, Synergetic therapy and so much more!

Nikki specializes in helping ​adults work through anxiety, ​depression, life transitions, ​boundaries, relationships, ​and childhood trauma.
